Veteran Programming

Healing hearts, restoring hope

Equine-assisted counseling and life skills programs offer a holistic approach to supporting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of veterans, helping them heal from trauma, navigate life transitions, and build fulfilling post-military lives.

PTSD and trauma recovery: Many veterans struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related issues. Interacting with horses in a therapeutic setting can help veterans process and cope with traumatic experiences, reduce symptoms of PTSD, and improve overall mental health and well-being.

Emotional regulation: Equine-assisted therapy provides veterans with opportunities to practice emotional regulation skills in a safe and supportive environment. Working with horses requires patience, empathy, and self-awareness, helping veterans learn to manage their emotions more effectively and cope with stress and anxiety.

Relationship building: Developing a bond with a horse can be a powerful experience that fosters trust, connection, and intimacy. For veterans who may struggle with interpersonal relationships or feel isolated, the therapeutic relationship with a horse can provide a safe foundation for building trust and learning to connect with others in a healthy way.

Coping skills: Equine-assisted therapy teaches practical coping skills for managing symptoms of PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Veterans learn strategies for relaxation, grounding, and emotional regulation that can help them navigate the challenges of civilian life and cope with triggers and stressors more effectively.

Sense of purpose and accomplishment: Caring for and working with horses provides veterans with a sense of purpose and accomplishment outside of their military service. Achieving goals and making progress in equine-assisted activities can boost veterans' self-esteem and confidence, helping them transition to civilian life and find new sources of fulfillment and meaning.

Community and support: Participating in equine-assisted counseling allows veterans to connect with others who share similar experiences and challenges. Group sessions provide a sense of camaraderie and support, offering opportunities for validation, peer support, and mutual understanding.

This program is design for individuals who have served in any branch of military.
